For plants in southeast Minnesota, Minnesota Industrial MachineX repairs CNC lathes and mills, routers, molding machines, grinders, servo systems and plant equipment on site, covering Rochester, Winona, Red Wing, Hastings and the towns in between. Mechanical engineers back our Minnesota techs, and a hard-down machine in most cases gets a same-day response. Call (651) 386-6553.
Manufacturing is big in this corner of the state. DEED counted 36,380 manufacturing jobs at 662 establishments in the 11-county Southeast region in 2023, about 15 percent of all employment. Food manufacturing leads at 10,352 jobs, followed by machinery at 4,406, computer and electronic products at 4,306 and fabricated metal at 4,034, and those four together make up almost two-thirds of the region’s manufacturing jobs, per DEED’s Southeast Minnesota manufacturing overview.
We think about this region in three groups of towns: the river towns, the Highway 52 towns, and the ring around Rochester.
Our techs travel throughout Minnesota every day, so we’re often closer than you’d think. For most plants in greater Minnesota, travel runs two hours or less. Call (651) 386-6553 and we’ll give you a real estimate on travel and arrival time based on where our techs are right now.
River Towns: Hastings, Red Wing, Lake City, Wabasha and Winona
Winona: Composites and Machining
Winona grew a composites cluster that most people outside the region have never heard of, with companies making everything from canoes and kayaks to aircraft parts, and Winona State University has built a composites engineering program around it.
Composite parts come out of the mold rough and get trimmed and drilled on CNC routers. Carbon and glass dust is hard on those machines, because it packs into way covers, loads up spindle bearings and gets into limit switches. Our CNC router repair covers spindle and vacuum hold-down problems, rack and pinion wear and drive faults. For shops molding thermoplastic parts, injection molding machine repair covers barrel heater zones, screw and check ring wear, clamp hydraulics and tie bar problems on Engel, Arburg, Van Dorn, Nissei, Toshiba and Cincinnati Milacron. See CNC machine repair in Winona for more on the town.
Red Wing
Red Wing’s Port Authority points to footwear, skates and promotional products among the city’s long-running manufacturing. The Port Authority is also clearing a 24-acre site at Highways 19 and 61, called Project 19/61, for light manufacturing, and the old research lab building there came down in May 2026.
Hastings
The Hastings Industrial Park has parcels from 1 to 50 acres for manufacturing, distribution and technology businesses, and the city names a plastics manufacturer and a woodworking manufacturer among its plants. Highway 61 runs through town as Vermillion Street.
Lake City and Wabasha
Wabasha employers carry nearly 1,800 payroll jobs, with manufacturing one of the city’s sectors next to health care and tourism, and the Wabasha Port Authority runs a barge terminal on the river. We cover Lake City as well, on the stretch of Highway 61 between Red Wing and Wabasha.
Highway 52 Towns: Cannon Falls, Zumbrota and Rochester
U.S. Highway 52 runs from the south metro to Rochester, and a lot of our southeast calls come off it.
Cannon Falls sits on Highway 52 where State Highways 19 and 20 come through. Its manufacturing roots go back to the flour and wool mills built on the Cannon River starting in 1857.
Zumbrota is served by Highway 52 and Highways 58 and 60. Business View Magazine reported a major dairy processing expansion there, and the city is working on water and sewer capacity to open an industrial park north of town.
Rochester is the hub for the whole region, and our page on CNC machine repair in Rochester covers the city in detail.
The Rochester Ring: Stewartville and Kasson
Stewartville has four industrial parks: Tebay’s Industrial Park, Rochester Medical Industrial Park, Schumann Business Park and Bucknell Industrial Park. The city zones about 220 acres for light manufacturing. Kasson, west of Rochester, rounds out the ring.
What Machinery and Electronics Shops Call Us About
Machinery and electronics work means tight tolerances, and tight tolerances expose worn machines fast. On turning centers, the usual calls are turret indexing faults, chuck pressure problems and tailstock alignment, which our CNC lathe and turning center repair handles. When parts come off a surface grinder with a wavy finish or taper, the cause is usually spindle bearings, table hydraulics or way wear, and our surface and cylindrical grinder repair covers Okamoto, Chevalier, Brown & Sharpe and Harig. An axis that throws a following error or creeps after sitting is often a motor, an amplifier or a feedback cable, so the first job is finding out which. We test all three, and we handle servo motor rebuilds through our servo motor and amplifier repair service.
Monthly Machine Maintenance for Southeast Minnesota Plants
Plenty of shops along the river and Highway 52 run lean on maintenance staff, and some have nobody in that job at all. Our monthly maintenance program sends a Minnesota tech on a set schedule to work the PM checklist and your repair list, so when something breaks between visits, we already know the machine. In a Winona composites shop that means clearing dust from router way covers before it reaches the spindle bearings, and in a food plant it means planning visits around sanitation. Most plants start monthly, busier floors go every other week or weekly, and each program is quoted after a walk-through.
Those visits also keep your spares in order. A critical spare parts program picks the amplifier, encoder, valve or board that would leave a machine down for a week waiting on freight, and gets it stocked before it’s needed.
When something breaks, call before anyone drives out, because our remote machine troubleshooting by phone or video is sometimes the whole fix. On-site time and travel are billed by the hour, travel one way only from the nearest tech, and parts are quoted before we order them. See our current rates.
FAQ
Do you cover Winona and Red Wing, or only Rochester?
We cover all of southeast Minnesota, including Winona, Red Wing, Hastings, Lake City, Wabasha, Cannon Falls, Zumbrota, Kasson, Stewartville and Rochester. We send the tech who is closest to your plant at the time you call.
How long does it take a tech to reach a plant in southeast Minnesota?
Our techs travel throughout Minnesota every day, so we’re often closer than you’d think. For most plants in greater Minnesota, travel runs two hours or less. Call (651) 386-6553 and we’ll give you a real estimate on travel and arrival time based on where our techs are right now.
Can you repair CNC routers used for trimming composite parts?
Yes. We work on spindles, vacuum hold-down, drives, rack and pinion and the controls on CNC routers, including machines that run carbon fiber and fiberglass.
Do you repair injection molding machines in southeast Minnesota?
Yes. We repair Cincinnati Milacron, Engel, Arburg, Van Dorn, Nissei and Toshiba molding machines, including heater zones, screw and barrel wear, clamp hydraulics and controls.
What do you charge for a service call near Rochester?
On-site time and travel are both billed by the hour, and travel is billed one way only, figured from wherever our nearest tech is. Parts are quoted before we order them. Current rates are on our rates page.
Can you put our Winona or Red Wing plant on a monthly maintenance schedule?
Yes. Our techs visit on a set schedule, usually monthly to start, to work the PM checklist and your repair list and keep your critical spares in order. Each program is quoted per plant after a walk-through, and it works well for plants that can’t find or keep a maintenance tech.
