Minnesota Industrial MachineX repairs CNC machines, routers, plasma tables, waterjets, injection molding machines and hydraulic equipment on site in the east metro, from St. Paul out through Washington County to Woodbury, Oakdale, Cottage Grove, White Bear Lake, Hugo, Forest Lake and Stillwater. We back our Minnesota techs with mechanical engineers, and for a hard-down machine we can usually be on site the same day. Call (651) 386-6553.
Washington County alone holds about 7,542 businesses employing 93,390 people, according to the county’s economic development agency. We break the east metro into five clusters below, starting with the city.
St. Paul
St. Paul has its own page. For the city itself and the first ring around it, including Roseville, Maplewood and South St. Paul, go to CNC machine repair in St. Paul.
Oakdale and Woodbury: The I-694 and I-94 Ring
Oakdale is getting new industrial space on old corporate ground. Twin Cities Business reported on 4Front Industrial Park, a building of nearly 200,000 square feet on 12 acres at the I-694 and County Road 14 interchange, built on the former Imation headquarters campus. The leasing broker called the location prime for medical, manufacturing and warehouse uses. Woodbury sits just south, across I-94.
When a plasma table or waterjet moves into a suite like that, a few problems tend to follow it. On a CNC plasma table, cut quality falls apart because of worn consumables, torch height control that has lost its arc voltage reading, or a gantry that racks out of square. On a waterjet, the cause is usually an intensifier pump losing pressure, weeping high-pressure seals and check valves, or an orifice worn out of round. Abrasive delivery trouble, like a clogged mixing tube or damp abrasive in the hopper, can look like a pump problem when it isn’t. We work on Flow, Omax and Jet Edge under plasma table and waterjet repair.
Cottage Grove: Highway 61 and the River
Cottage Grove sits on the north bank of the Mississippi about ten miles south of St. Paul. A Business View Magazine profile of Cottage Grove calls manufacturing a major industry in the city and notes rail-served sites in the business park on the CP line, with a BNSF intersection nearby. The Gateway commercial district is four miles south of I-494 on Highway 61.
Plants with long histories often run good iron on controls the builder dropped years ago. When a board fails and nobody can supply a replacement, it may be time for a retrofit, which puts a new control, drives and motors on the existing castings, ways and screws. Before quoting, we check ballscrew backlash, way wear, the spindle and the hydraulics, because a new control on tired iron just sits on top of an old problem, and we’ll tell you that straight. Our machine rebuilds and control retrofits cover both.
White Bear Lake, Hugo and Forest Lake: North on Highway 61 and I-35
Hugo started a Highway 61 corridor study with MnDOT and Washington County in January 2023, and the city’s community development director calls County Road 8 and Highway 61 “the heart of Hugo.” One interior finishes company there runs manufacturing and lumber operations across a seven-building campus. White Bear Lake sits south on the same highway, and Forest Lake sits north on I-35.
Cabinet, sign and plastics shops run CNC routers, and router calls follow a pattern. If your router loses position on long cuts, the vacuum table won’t hold sheet, the spindle sounds rough or the ATC drops a tool, that’s a CNC router repair call.
Older machines in small shops are also where guarding and safety circuits get patched. We find door interlocks that have been jumpered, light curtains that have been muted, and E-stop strings wired in series with a relay that sticks. A light curtain that faults on and off is more often dirty, misaligned or running on a damaged cable than failed outright. We repair E-stop circuits, door interlocks and light curtains, and we document missing or bypassed guarding we find on a machine, all covered on our machine safety and interlock repair page.
Stillwater and the St. Croix
Stillwater sits on the St. Croix at the east edge of the metro, with Oak Park Heights and Bayport next door. For plastics molders here and across the east metro, we handle injection molding machine repair when barrel heater zones won’t hold temperature, the screw won’t recover, clamp pressure won’t build or the hydraulic system runs hot. We work on Cincinnati Milacron, Engel, Arburg, Van Dorn, Nissei and Toshiba.
Hydraulic trouble is common on older molding presses and fab equipment alike. When a pump is worn, a relief valve is drifting or a cylinder seal is bypassing, our hydraulic repair finds it with pressure readings instead of guesswork and rebuilds the cylinder if it needs it.
Travel and Rates for East Metro Plants
Our techs travel throughout Minnesota every day, and in the metro we’re usually an hour or less away. Call (651) 386-6553 and we’ll give you a real estimate on travel and arrival time based on where our techs are right now.
Both on-site time and travel are billed hourly, and travel only counts one way, from the nearest tech. Parts are quoted before we order them, and the rates page lists our current rates.
Monthly Maintenance for East Metro Plants
Plenty of east metro shops have more machines than maintenance people, or no maintenance people at all. Our monthly maintenance program puts a Minnesota tech on your floor on a set schedule, monthly for most plants and every other week or weekly for busier ones, to work the PM checklist and your repair list and keep critical spares in order. For a Stillwater molder, that means heater zones and hydraulics get checked before they cost you a run, and for a cabinet shop in Hugo it means the router’s vacuum and spindle get looked at while they still work. When something breaks between visits, call our emergency machine repair line, and we’ll already know your machines.
We also cover Lake Elmo, Mahtomedi, Vadnais Heights, Newport and St. Paul Park.
