Minnesota Industrial MachineX handles on-site repair of CNC mills and lathes, wire and sinker EDMs, grinders, spindles, CNC controls, conveyors and fabrication equipment in the west metro, including Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Chanhassen, Chaska, Hopkins, Rogers and Delano. Our Minnesota techs are backed by mechanical engineers, and when a machine is hard down we can usually be there the same day. Call (651) 386-6553.
The west metro sorts itself by industry more than by map. Closer in, most of the work is medical device and precision machining, while out along I-94 and Highway 212 it shifts to new business parks and distribution, and out Highway 12 it’s fabrication on rail-served industrial land.
Medical Device Machining: Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Minnetonka and Hopkins
Plymouth is the center of it. Twin Cities Business reported that the city holds more than 130 med-tech and supporting businesses, and the Medical Alley Association’s CEO called it the most densely concentrated community for med-tech jobs in Minnesota. In 2024, Eden Prairie Local News reported the city expected to reach 19 medical technology companies among its more than 2,800 businesses. Minnetonka and Hopkins sit between the two.
Swiss-type lathes are common in small-part medical work, and guide bushing wear, a sub-spindle that won’t pick off cleanly, or a bar feeder that stops talking to the control will stop a Swiss cold. All three can usually be sorted out on site.
For the people who buy from these shops, a part that’s a few tenths off is scrap, which is why the machines they run need a different kind of attention. Our medical device manufacturing page covers the equipment side of that work in more detail.
Wire EDM, Grinders and Spindles
On wire EDMs, the usual calls are auto threading that fails at the same spot, wire breaks in thick parts, flushing pressure that drops off, and conductivity climbing because the resin is spent. We work on Sodick, Mitsubishi, Makino, Fanuc RoboCut and AgieCharmilles, and the details are on our wire and sinker EDM repair page.
Surface and cylindrical grinders show their problems as chatter marks, a wheel head with bearing noise, a table that won’t reverse cleanly, or a magnetic chuck that loses hold. Our grinder repair covers Okamoto, Chevalier, Brown & Sharpe and Harig.
High-speed spindles on small-part machining centers take a beating, and runout at the taper, heat after a warmup cycle and rising vibration are the early signs. We check the spindle on the machine first, then pull it and quote the rebuild if the bearings are done. That’s our CNC spindle repair work.
Controls fail in their own ways. A Heidenhain or Siemens control loses its reference, a Fanuc boots to a parameter alarm, or an I/O module drops an input so the door interlock won’t make. Our CNC control and PLC repair handles Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain and Fagor controls.
New Business Parks and Distribution: Rogers, Chaska and Chanhassen
Rogers sits where I-94 meets Highway 101, and the city describes itself as a major distribution center with more than 11,000 jobs.
Chaska has something bigger coming. Carver County Local News reported in February 2026 that the council gave initial approval to Big Woods Business Park: 378 acres west of Highway 212, with 14 industrial buildings and about 2 million square feet planned. Chanhassen sits right next door on the same highway.
Distribution and production floors run on conveyors, sorters, packaging equipment and the PLCs behind them. When a sortation line stops, it’s often a photo eye out of alignment, a motor starter that tripped, or a drive fault the operators keep resetting. Our conveyor and plant equipment repair covers the drives, sensors and PLCs, including Siemens, Modicon and AutomationDirect.
Delano and Highway 12: Fabrication on Rail-Served Land
Delano is the far edge of the west metro, and a 150-acre industrial park is being marketed on Highway 12 west of town, with BNSF rail access and industrial zoning.
Fab shops out this way run shears, ironworkers, plate rolls and tube benders next to their brakes. A shear that cuts with a burr has the wrong blade gap or dull blades, and an ironworker punch that walks off center needs its stripper and die alignment checked. We cover Scotchman, Piranha and Edwards ironworkers under shear and ironworker repair. When a plate roll cones a part meant to be straight, it usually has a roll out of parallel or a worn bearing, and inconsistent springback on a tube bender often comes from a pressure die or mandrel problem, or hydraulic pressure that sags mid-bend.
Monthly Maintenance for West Metro Shops
Precision and medical shops often run one machine per process with no backup, so a spindle or control failure stops that part number completely. Our monthly maintenance program puts a Minnesota tech in your shop on a set schedule to work the PM checklist and your repair list, covering things like spindle runout, EDM resin and filters, and control batteries and parameter backups before they cost you a week. Distribution floors in Rogers use the same visits to keep sorters, photo eyes and drives in shape, and busier floors often go every other week or weekly. The tech also keeps your critical spares in order, like a spindle drive fuse, a servo amplifier, an encoder cable or an EDM power supply board, so the part most likely to stop you is already on your shelf.
Getting a Tech to the West Metro
Our techs travel throughout Minnesota every day, and in the metro we’re usually an hour or less away. Call (651) 386-6553 and we’ll give you a real estimate on travel and arrival time based on where our techs are right now.
When you call, have these ready:
- The machine make, model and control.
- The alarm number or a photo of the screen.
- When it started and what changed right before.
On-site time and travel are billed by the hour, with travel billed one way only, and our current rates are on the rates page. We also cover Wayzata, Medina, Corcoran, Maple Plain, Waconia and Victoria, and shops closer to downtown are on our CNC machine repair in Minneapolis page.
FAQ
Do you repair CNC machines in Plymouth, MN?
Yes. We repair CNC mills, lathes, EDMs, grinders, spindles and controls on site in Plymouth and the rest of the west metro. Call (651) 386-6553 with the machine and the alarm.
Can you fix a wire EDM in Eden Prairie or Minnetonka?
Yes. We work on Sodick, Mitsubishi, Makino, Fanuc RoboCut and AgieCharmilles wire and sinker EDMs, including threading faults, wire breaks, flushing problems and power supply faults.
Do you work with medical device manufacturers?
Yes. We repair and align the machining centers, Swiss and turning lathes, EDMs, grinders and automation cells that medical device shops run.
How quickly can you get to Chaska or Rogers?
